Carter High is a typical high school with one exception. Five students always seem to be involved in mysteries.
The students of Carter attend classes, participate in sports and drama, cram for exams and go on field trips. Topics are involving and pertinent to young adult readers: romance, sports, friendship, exams, work, and family but with a twist of mystery.
In just 48 pages, even your struggling readers can easily finish these novels!
The CD Resource Guides provide over 100 activities and reproducible worksheets to support the books and extend students' reading skills. A key at the end of each guide provides answers and sample responses. The Activities give lower level readers the tools to construct, extend, and examine the meaning of text. Each guide is 8-1/2" x 11 and 16 pages.
LEARNING ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: Vocabulary skills include decoding words, using words correctly, understanding meanings, and extending the actual amount of words the students know. Initial understanding of text is the initial impression of what has been read. Skills include identifying details and facts and recognizing aspects of literal text, such as sequence of events or main ideas. Developing interpretation goes beyond the initial impression to develop a more complete understanding of what was read. The reader must distinguish between and compare separate concepts in a text to extend its meaning. Personal reflection and response requires readers to connect information from the text with their own general background and knowledge. Demonstrating a critical stance requires readers to detach themselves from the text in order to consider and evaluate it.
Sample Set includes each of the 10 titles in the series plus the 10 accompanying Resource Guides
